Genealogy. Lots of people search out their ancestry and I for one find it interesting and have been searching for my great-grandfather’s family Peter Matzen for over 10 years. I have found when he left Germany and that he was a school teacher. He left during the Prussian war timeframe. 1870-1872. He settled in Clinton Iowa and has a great history there as well. His father’s name was Peter too. So last week Ancestry.com had a free trial again. So I go in search again.
Now in the scheme of things in this world, genealogy isn’t really important unless you are talking about your connection to the Father in heaven. If we are in God’s family and believe Jesus Christ is the Son of God and he is our Savior, then we are part of this great family of Christians who have guaranteed salvation. Amen!
So it is ok to search out your ancestors, but make sure you have it right with God. Focus on Christ and someday you will be with a family of other believers.
6 Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
