Learning to Forgive

I have written about forgiveness and my husband and I collaborated on Forgiveness Bible Study a few years ago. You can still look at the sight on Facebook.

A lack of forgiveness is the number-one obstacle to our healing and our joy.

Forgiveness is a gift we receive from God. We in turn can learn from this forgiveness. If God can forgive all the awful things I have done, we should be able to forgive someone that hurts us. Now some wounds are pretty deep. Forgiveness is a process.
Getting even will never provide you peace.

Jesus did challenge us to deal with our own anger, he said, If you are presenting a sacrifice at the altar in the Temple and you suddenly remember that someone has something against you, leave your sacrifice at the altar. Go and reconcile with that person. Then you can come back to offer your sacrifice to God”

This shows that this forgiveness thing is a very important thing.

  1. Reblogged this on Using God's Word in Everyday Life and commented:
Forgiveness is the salve that heals our spiritual wounds. Without forgiveness, an offense would infect the soul of the one who was wronged until eats up the soul making it a shell of itself. Forgiveness is not something that comes naturally to us. However we have a good teacher who has modeled for us what true forgiveness looks like: Jesus Christ our Lord. Let us learn from Him and begin the process of learning to forgive.
