There is so much to know about God, we will never imagine or discover it all in this life. This book is only the tip of the iceberg. We’ll keep exploring the claims Jesus made about himself.
Jesus claimed to be able to give eternal life.
“My sheep hear my voice; I know them and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish.” John 10:27-28
Jesus showed people how to have a meaningful life, he also points us to the eternal.
Ponder this – C.S. Lewis was a clear thinking Christian and in his book “Mere Christianity” he wrote “A man who was merely a man and said the sort of things Jesus said would not be a great moral teacher. He would either be a lunatic — on the level with the man who says he is a poached egg — or else he would be the Devil of Hell. You must make your choice. Either this man was, and is, the Son of God, or else a madman or something worse. You can shut him up for a fool, you can spit at him and kill him as a demon or you can fall at his feet and call him Lord and God, but let us not come with any patronizing nonsense about his being a great human teacher. He has not left that open to us. He did not intend to.”
There is no evidence that he was a lunatic. Is he a liar, or is he God? Each of us must arrive at our own answer. It comes down to whether you believe Jesus or not.
Point to Ponder: Knowing about Jesus is not the same as knowing Jesus.
Verse to Live: “Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your minds, so that you may discern what is the will of God – what is good and acceptable and perfect.” Romans 12:2
Comments – Do you have a really good reason not to take Jesus at his word?
Prayer: Jesus I believe. Help me to grow out of my doubts and unbelief.
