Delve into the Gospels

Find yourself in the Gospels.

Much like our author, I had a Bible when I was young. I read it many times, sometimes not really understanding, but finding comfort in parts. When I too realized that Jesus is alive with us and we can find Him in everything we do.

We tend to read the Gospels as history and not application, but my Theologian husband will tell you, that without application what is there relevant in the Bible. There are lesson in every portion and as we become more familiar we’ll have more and more AwhHa Moments.

The Scripture provide a powerful role in the life of a Christian. The Word of God equips us for the mission God wants to send us on. The four Gospels provide insight into who Jesus was and who he is inviting us to become.

Today I began reading John. Even in the few short verses of John 1
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was with God in the beginning. 3 Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. 4 In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. 5 The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome[a] it.

These verses speak to me today to tell me that Jesus was there in the beginning and that he is the Truth, the Word and the Light. This light shines through darkness and evil(Satan) cannot overcome it. Be Strong in Christ Jesus. He created everything – nothing was made without Him.

Point to Ponder: Jesus’ teachings are astounding practical when we pause to reflect on them.

Verse to live: “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path” Psalm 119:105

Question to Consider: Have you ever really read the Gospels… what a great day to start.

Prayer: Jesus reveal yourself to us as we begin to rediscover you through the Gospels.

  1. “These verses speak to me today to tell me that Jesus was there in the beginning and that he is the Truth, the Word and the Light.” So true, Cathy. And reading this, then going back to Genesis 2 – “The earth was without form and void, and darkness was over the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters.” tells us the Son, the Spirit and the Father were all there together before all of it. So thrilling to discover the Unity existed long before we did.
